Cantine Due Palme wins his fight for the protection and the tutelage of the environment!
It is well known that the President of Cantine Due Palme, the winemaker Angelo Maci, has been supporting the campaign for the tutelage of the Apulian Alberello, over the last 10 years. According to Mr. Maci, the project represents the main weapon to compete with other producing countries, insomuch that an Academy has been found.
Thanks to the collaboration with the Co.Di.Va.Bri. (the Consortium for the Protection and the Promotion of Brindisi Agricultural Production), the Apulian winery now supports the following initiatives aimed to the environmental protection, such as:
MATING DISRUPTION TECHNIQUE instead of INSECTICIDES USE
Since 2009 a Mating Disruption Technique Project has been launched over 300 hectares of vineyards in order to prevent grape moth attacks from damaging grape berries.
Appropriate nozzles installed in vineyards spray a synthetic female hormone, puzzle the male one, thus preventing mating and the conclusion of the parasite production cycle.
This kind of intervention actually avoids using and putting in the environment of dangerous insecticides.
