ANTHEA Falanghina Salento IGP

TASTING NOTES: On the nose it has both elegance and minerality with a delicate fruity nose dominated by citrus notes. In the mouth it is fresh and has good length thanks to the excellent balance of the acidity.

HISTORICAL AND TECHNICAL NOTES

The Falanghina vine is probably descended from an ancient Greco-Balkan variety brought to Italy by Roman traders from where it took its Latin name of “Phalange” meaning a vine supported by sticks or poles. Originally widespread throughout Southern Italy it was then almost forgotten until it was realised that it had some resistance to the problem of the Phylloxera beetle.

Having been established as a historical Salento variety it was given the DOP classification and captures perfectly the symbiosis between the land and the climate of the region.

The grapes are cold-macerated at 4°C for 24 hours and the wine is aged only in bottle to preserve all the freshness.
